In HCISD, District 4 and District 5 are scheduled for the election. The positions are held by board members Merideth Keller and Esperanza Orosco, respectively. Orosco has filed for re-election, according to school district filing documents. So far, only Byron Severance has filed for the District 4 spot.
District 2 is also on the ballot to fill an unexpired term. In December, former board member Willie Tenorio Jr. resigned after moving out of District 2. The board of trustees then appointed Esmeralda Pérez-González to the position.
The filing deadline is Feb. 18. Candidates wishing to run will need to file all necessary paperwork with the school board clerk.
The district might also add a bond election to the May 7 ballot, as previously reported by Community Impact Newspaper. Consideration of adding a bond to the election will take place at the board’s Jan. 24 meeting, which begins at 6 p.m. at the Historic Buda Upper Campus, 300 San Marcos St., Buda.
