The unofficial final count from Hays County shows Mitchell defeated challenger Linda Tenorio at 1,257 votes to 1,012.
The Dec. 8 election was not as close as the Nov. 3 election, during which neither Mitchell nor Tenorio managed to get more than 50% of the vote. That resulted in the Dec. 8 runoff race.
Tenorio barely edged Mitchell once all Nov. 3 votes were counted, with 5,831 votes to 5,795.
Results are updated as of Dec. 9 at 7:10 a.m. and are unofficial until they are canvassed and certified by the county clerk.
