New phone policy

Students are no longer permitted to use cellphones and other personal communication devices during the school day, including lunch and passing periods.

The new policy comes from a new state law, House Bill 1481, which requires Texas public schools to restrict student access to personal communication devices while on campus.

Prohibited devices include:
  • Telephones
  • Cellphones
  • Earbuds and earphones
  • Tablets, personal laptops and computers
  • Smartwatches
  • Gaming, radio, texting and paging devices
  • Smart glasses
  • Any other device capable of telecommunications or digital communication
While students are allowed to bring devices to school, devices must be stored away. Students in violation of the policy will face disciplinary consequences.
