Hays CISD and San Marcos CISD students are out for summer following the last day of classes and senior graduations. Here are key district dates to know for the break, summer camps in the area and other local resources.

District dates to know

Hays CISD will continue to hold board meetings at 5:30 p.m. at the Academic Support Center, 21003 I-35, Kyle, throughout the break on the following dates:
  • June 4, special board budget workshop meeting
  • June 10, regular board meeting
  • June 24, regular board meeting
  • July 21, regular board meeting
The district will be closed the following dates:
  • June 19
  • July 4
San Marcos CISD will host board meetings at 6 p.m. at the Felipe Reyna Building 1331 SH-123, San Marcos, on the following dates:
  • June 2, special board meeting
  • June 16, regular board meeting
  • Aug. 4, special board meeting
  • Aug. 18, regular board meeting
SMCISD will be closed every Friday from June 6 through July 25, and for a week June 30 through July 4.

Both HCISD and SMCISD students will return for the 2025-26 school year Aug. 13 for the first day of school.

Events and camps in the area

Local resources

Families in need of meals over the summer can use the following resources:
  • Call 2-1-1 for assistance finding food, health services, housing and more.
  • Visit www.summerfood.org for free meal sites in the Austin area; participants do not have to apply, register or provide identification, according to the website.
  • Text “FOOD” or “COMIDA” to 304-304, the Feeding America text line, to locate food in the area.
  • Free summer meals at HCISD sites for all children and teens 18 and under, and enrolled students up to 21 years old with disabilities, starting June 3.
  • Free summer meals at SMCISD sites for all children and and teens 18 and under, and up to 21 years old for those with disabilities, starting June 3; no registration or ID required.
