Ramage Elementary, Hays CISD's 17th elementary school and newest campus slated to open for the 2025-26 school year, officially has its first principal.

The board of trustees unanimously approved a recommendation to hire Yvette Soliz as Ramage Elementary principal during its regular meeting Feb. 24.

The details

Soliz has been an educator for over 30 years and is the current principal of Camino Real Elementary, a role which she has held since 2014.

“I have been searching for the perfect words to say to my [Camino Real] Roadrunner family, and I have concluded that there are no words that can explain how much I am going to miss this amazing community,” Soliz said in a news release. "Over the past eleven years, I have had the privilege of working alongside each of you, sharing the same dedication, passion, and commitment to our students’ academic, emotional growth and well-being. The memories we've shared and the challenges we've overcome will always hold a special place in my heart.”

Looking back

Construction of Ramage Elementary was approved through the 2023 bond. Construction began in April 2024 and is expected to be completed by this July in time for the new school year.

In December, the board approved an attendance rezoning map in order to create an attendance zone for the campus.

What's next

Superintendent Eric Wright said Soliz will next work with the Ramage community to "build the culture from the ground up" by selecting the school colors and mascot.

Per the news release, officials will soon name an interim principal for Camino Real as Soliz transitions to the new role.

“We are excited to have Yvette at the helm as we bring a new elementary school campus online,” Wright said in a news release. “She is an outstanding leader who will inspire campus staff and students. I know in her hands, Ramage Elementary will have a strong start. It’ll have the momentum it needs for continuing success for generations to come.”
