San Marcos CISD families can begin to plan for the 2025-26 school year following the board of trustees' approval of the academic calendar.

Dates to know

Per the approved calendar, the 2025-26 school year will end the Thursday before Memorial Day.

Along with recognizing federal holidays such as Labor Day on Sept. 1, Indigenous Peoples' Day on Oct. 13, Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Jan. 19 and Presidents' Day on Feb. 16, other key dates include:

• Aug. 13: first day of school
• Sept. 26: Parent Community Day (student holiday)
• Nov. 24-28: Thanksgiving break
• Dec. 22-Jan. 2: winter break
• Jan. 5: staff work day (student holiday)
• March 9-13: spring break
• April 3: district holiday
• May 21: last day of school

There are additional student holidays on Oct. 10, Nov. 3, Jan. 6, Feb. 9 and April 24 for staff professional development.

Something to note

SMCISD's 2026 spring break will align with Texas State University's. Neighboring district Hays CISD and other Austin-area school districts typically align its spring break with the University of Texas at Austin, which will be March 16-20, said Andrew Fernandez, SMCISD's Chief of Communications.
