Following a fire at Johnson High School on the morning of March 24 that led to the early release of students, district officials announced that all classes at the school will be canceled March 25.

Crews are expected to continue working on Friday to clear out vents, clean up water from the sprinklers, and reset and retest the fire alarm system, according to a statement from the district.

The fire began at approximately 10 a.m. March 24 from a dryer in the athletic wing laundry room, according to a statement. Students and staff were evacuated, and a thorough investigation is underway to determine the cause.

The campus will be open March 25 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. for anyone who needs to retrieve personal belongings left behind after evacuating.

School is expected to resume as scheduled on Monday, March 28.
