After an expanded waiver was issued by the Texas Education Agency, Hays CISD confirmed it would cancel all classes through the rest of the week. Normal class schedules are expected to resume Feb. 22.

An HCISD announcement of the snow days said the district should not have to add any makeup school days later in the semester due to the virtual learning day it held Feb. 15.

After-school and extracurricular activities were also canceled through Feb. 19, but activities planned for Feb. 20 may go forward if weather and safety permit, the district said. Parents should check with coaches and sponsors to verify scheduling for the weekend.

According to the district, five of its 25 campuses have experienced limited pipe damage, but HCISD maintenance crews and contractors were on-site to make repairs. Notifications will be sent to parents later in the week if repairs to their child's campus extend into next week.

HCISD Chief Communication Officer Tim Savoy noted that he had been without power for nearly 60 hours and had limited cell data and service, which may impact district messaging this week.
