With all precincts reporting, unofficial results indicate each of the three incumbents have won their races for seats on the San Marcos CISD board of trustees. Miguel Arredondo defeated Brian Henderson for the district 1 seat with 206 votes, representing 63 percent of the total. Henderson received 121 votes, representing 37 percent of the total.
In the district 2 race, Margie Villalpando expanded her lead from early voting returns, finishing the night with 155 votes, representing 59.62 percent of the total. Elizabeth Trevino, the challenger, finished with 105 votes, representing 40.38 percent of the total.
In the closest race of the night, Lupe Costilla defeated challenger Mariana Zamora with 240 votes, representing 50.53 percent of the total. Zamora received 235 votes, representing 49.47 percent of the total.

District 1 incumbent Miguel Arredondo said he is encouraged by voters' support for him in early voting. According to early returns, Arredondo holds a nearly 2-1 margin on challenger Brian Henderson.
"I’m happy and excited that the voters are supporting me at least so far tonight," Arredondo said.
Arredondo also said he was encouraged by strong early support for the district's $107.3 million bond.
"I think it’s an exciting time in our school district," Arredondo said. "This is a testament that our community is forward-thinking and dedicated to planning."
District 2 incumbent Margie Villalpando said she saw 109 election day voters in Martindale today. Villalpando currently holds an 11 vote lead on her challenger, Liz Trevino. Villalpando said she will be closely watching the election day results as they come in.
Similarly, Trevino said election day votes may decide the race.
"I’ve been working really hard," Trevino said. "I’ve been out there all day talking to people. I’m trying to get myself and what I’ve done and what I stand for out into the community for people who don’t know me. I’m working really hard. I’m not giving up. It could go either way I guess."
District 3 challenger is currently down 15 votes shy of incumbent Lupe Costilla. Zamora said turnout on election day appeared higher than previous elections.
"I’m excited that those were the results for the early voting," she said. "Running against someone who has been on the board for a really long time ... I’m excited it seems like people are ready for a change."
Costilla could not be reached for comment.

Arredondo has received 126 votes in early voting, representing 65.63 percent of the total. Henderson received 66 votes in early voting, representing 34.38 percent of the total.
Villalpando, the incumbent, is facing off against challenger Liz Trevino in the race for the district 1 seat on the San Marcos CISD board of trustees. Villalpando has received 57 votes in early voting, representing 55.34 percent of the total. Trevino received 46 votes in early voting, representing 44.66 percent of the total.
Costilla, the incumbent, is facing off against challenger Mariana Zamora in the race for the district 1 seat on the San Marcos CISD board of trustees. Costilla received 163 votes in early voting, representing 52.41 percent of the total. Zamora has received 148 votes in early voting, representing 47.59 percent of the total.
