Saturday's competition to elect new members to the
Hays CISD and
San Marcos CISD school boards brought less than three percent of registered voters to the polls.
SMCISD saw 2.52 percent of voters who live in the SMCISD district boundaries at the polls, and HCISD saw a slightly higher number, 2.65 percent, go to the polls, according to the Hays County Elections Office.
In total, 2,263 ballots were cast in the two at-large SMCISD races, and 1,469 ballots were cast in both the at-large race and the district 3 HCISD race.
In 2015, the last time the school districts held elections for boards of trustees, SMCISD had 2,925 ballots cast for the at-large seat and 222 ballots cast for the district 1 seat.
Election results in 2015 were not available for HCISD on the county election's office's website.
