The details
Gil’s Broiler & Manske Roll Bakery, 328 N. LBJ Drive, San Marcos, closed for two weeks in June to add more indoor attractions to the restaurant, owner Cristian Becerra told Community Impact in a written statement.
“San Marcos already has amazing outdoor activities with the river, parks and nearby venues like Putt Pub,” Becerra said. “We wanted to complement that by adding more indoor draws downtown."
Becerra said the team added new pool tables and dart boards, creating a space for people to gather and relax.
The spot reopened July 1.
What else?
During the temporary closure, Becerra said the team moved their bakery operations to 201 S. LBJ Drive, sharing a space with Las Dos Fridas.
Becerra noted that the bakery's popular cinnamon Manske Rolls will be served from that location going forward, with drive-thru service and dedicated parking for easy pickup.
The North LBJ Drive Gil’s location will continue to serve its classic burger menu, beer and cinnamon rolls.
Staying local
Gil’s Broiler & Manske Roll Bakery opened in San Marcos in the 1940s as Manske’s Grill and has served generations of local residents, visitors and college students.
“Our goal is to preserve what people love while making sure there’s always something new to enjoy,” Becerra said. “We believe in growing with San Marcos and making it an even more special place to visit and live. We’re excited to keep serving everyone for years to come.”
