Las Dos Fridas opened at 201 S. LBJ Drive in downtown San Marcos on Sept. 5.

The restaurant is locally owned by Texas State University Alumni Yvette Galvan, Irving Galvan and Mario Chavarria.

What they offer

Yvette Galvan said Las Dos Fridas is an extension of Santi's Tacos, and serves authentic Mexican cuisine with a valley-style twist.

Las Dos Fridas sells breakfast tacos, tortas, tostadas, quesadillas, nachos, tacos matamoros, menudo, pozole and more. Galvan said they also serve barbacoa on the weekends and make their corn and flour tortillas from scratch.

Each meal is a rendition of the art by Mexican Painter Frida Kahlo, Galvan said. For example, Los Dos Fridas, which means two Fridas, consists of two eggs with red and green salsa.
