The Chick-fil-A near Aquarena Springs in San Marcos, located at 1433 N. I-35 frontage road, underwent renovations from March 8 to March 12 to add a new bi-parting drive-thru door.
The overview
An Instagram post from the Aquarena Chick-fil-A account on March 8 announced the temporary closure for the remodel, stating the restaurant would reopen mid-week. On March 12, another post confirmed the reopening, saying, "We are open, and we are a(door)ing serving you again," showcasing the new drive-thru door.
The renovations align with a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing, which detailed Chick-fil-A’s plans to replace its existing drive-thru window with the new door.
Digging deeper
Renovations are prioritized based on a restaurant’s capacity and age, often including kitchen expansions and drive-thru enhancements, according to Chick-fil-A's website.
"While we are still in the early stages, we are happy to share that Chick-fil-A San Marcos is actively working through the approval process with local officials to begin renovations to improve the restaurant," Chick-fil-A Inc. said in an email to Community Impact before the upgrades took place. "We look forward to making improvements to the parking lot and Drive-Thru to meet the unique needs of the community and continuing to serve Guests delicious food in an environment of genuine hospitality.”
Another filing with the TDLR indicates that more renovations are planned, including drive-thru modifications, parking lot reconfiguration, curb cuts, landscape enhancements, and striping.
