Mochinut announced the closure of its San Marcos shop, located at 700 N. LBJ Drive, Ste. 102B, on Jan. 5 via social media.

"We have made the difficult decision to close down our Mochinut San Marcos location," the post read. "We want to thank everyone for all the love and support this past year! This isn't goodbye forever!"

The shop opened Sept. 2, 2021, offering a fusion of Japanese mochi rice cakes and a Hawaiian doughnut. The menu also featured boba, hot dogs and more. The shop regularly changed the flavors of the mochi donut each week.

The Austin location at 1700 W. Parmer Lane, Ste. 100, will remain open.
