Hidden above the Root Cellar Cafe lies the business' newest venture, UpRoot, located at 215 N. LBJ Drive, San Marcos.

Owner Kyle Mulius founded Root Cellar Cafe in 2005 and has since then branched out with Root Cellar Catering Co., UpRoot and more.

One flight of stairs above the original business that started it all, UpRoot opened at the end of September and offers drinks and appetizers. The drink menu features wine, beer, cocktails and mocktails. Small bites include dishes such as roasted garlic hummus with chips, pita bread or vegetables. The appetizer menu also offers ceviche and bloody mary shrimp cocktails.

UpRoot can also be reserved for private parties with special menus and drinks for up to 50 people.
