Brothers turn franchise restaurant Figaro’s Pizza and Pub into a local eatery

After celebrating their one-year anniversary in San Marcos in May, the owners of Figaro’s Pizza and Pub plan to grow their establishment and community involvement this year.

Figaro’s Pizza and Pub in San Marcos offers a selection of specialty pizzas, burgers, wings, beer on tab, wines and more.

Local brothers and owners Greg, Jack and Jeff Harper wanted their eatery to feel like somewhere they would dine themselves.

“This is something we have always wanted to do,” Jeff said. “With the established brand of Figaro’s and the autonomy of design, the decor reflects our San Marcos roots and attracts established Figaro fans while also creating regulars. Plus we love pizza.”

The Harpers currently have partnerships with the Hays County Barbeque Restaurant and local craft breweries, which they say helps tie their food to the local community.

The inside of the restaurant is decorated with San Marcos-inspired decor, such as vintage postcards, historical pictures and posters of movies shot in the area.

According to Jeff, additional seating, menu item improvements, live music and a catering service are also in future plans for the business.

Greg and Jeff overlook day-to-day operations of the business, while Jack, their primary investor, is more of a silent partner. They pride themselves on high-quality ingredients and unique menu items such as barbecue brisket totchos and Purgatory Creek Fire Burgers.

“We are able to think outside the box here,” Jeff said. “We love San Marcos and having that echoed in the style and food of our restaurant enables us to eventually become a town staple. Meeting new people, seeing them enjoy the food and atmosphere, and creating community bonds are some of my favorite things about this job.”
