Austin-based startup Casata broke ground on its second venture Casata San Marcos, located at 2138 Post Road, on May 14.

The details

The lifestyle community developer launched its first micro-home community—Casata Austin—in 2022, which consisted of 66 standalone units.

In December 2021, San Marcos City Council approved a development agreement with Casata to build the development.

Casata San Marcos will be a 210-unit micro-home rental community—the first of its kind for the city of San Marcos, according to a news release. There will be one- and two-bedroom units ranging from 512-806 square feet.

Casata Co-Founder Noah Pollack said the new rental community will consist of individual homes that are technologically advanced and energy efficient.

“This is a truly standout concept that melds environmental sensitivity and community,” Pollack said in a news release.

Casata San Marcos will also have a community center, a pool, pocket parks and an exercise facility.

Casata Co-Founder Aaron Levy said they were seeing a “strong demand” for more housing—especially innovative housing—in the San Marcos area.

“We’re thrilled to be able to bring more options for residents here,” Levy said.

What else?

Casata will be adding two additional communities in Bastrop and College Station, which are under development, and residents will be able to move into Casata San Marcos in late summer 2025.
