A new 399-unit multifamily apartment complex in San Marcos is wrapping up construction.

Sendero Trace Apartments, located off of I-35 near the Tanger Outlets, began leasing in March and celebrated its grand opening April 16.

The complex comprises 15 buildings, with nine of them already completed. The remaining six buildings are slated to be finished by the end of July, according to Greystar Property Manager Kara Menefee.

The apartments offer one-, two- and four-bedroom units with ample natural light, oversized garden tubs, granite countertops, and a washer and dryer, according to the Sendero Trace website.

“What separates us from the traditional apartment complex is the sheer size of it. ... [The apartments are] very spacious and very bright. The ownership elected to install really large windows and didn't compromise the square footage of their apartment homes,” said Lidiya Alexander, regional property manager with Greystar. “So they have the feel of a house so you don't feel like you're in an apartment.”

The pet-friendly apartments also offer a variety of amenities, including:
  • Coworking spaces
  • Fitness studio
  • Package locker system
  • Pet park and washing station
  • Resident lounge
  • Resort-style pool
  • Storage units
Around 85% of the first-floor units have access to a yard, according to Menefee.

A “micro market” will also be on the property once the development is completed, and will allow residents the convenience of purchasing small items, such as snacks and drinks, Alexander said.

Alexander said the management team at Sendero Trace wants residents to feel at home and have fun on the property.

“In general, Greystar is the biggest property management company in the world, but we always make sure that our communities don't lose their identity,” Alexander said. “It's so easy to be big and lose that identity and be personable.”
