Kyle City Council is expected to vote on an ordinance request for construction of the new Costco set to open at 19086 I-35, Kyle, at a meeting Aug. 2. The addition of Costco in the Dry River District was announced in July 2021, as previously reported by Community Impact Newspaper.

Noise from excavation, construction, demolition or alteration of a building or structure is not allowed between the hours of 9 p.m. and 7 a.m., according to the city of Kyle code of ordinances. However, RMC Contractors is asking for an exception to pour concrete during the prohibited hours window.

Pouring concrete during the day in the heat will cause cracking and render the foundation unbuildable, according to agenda documents. The contractors aim to start pouring concrete Sept. 12 at 2 a.m. if approved by City Council, and will last for 12 nonconsecutive days.

Council will meet Aug. 2 at 7 p.m. at City Hall, located at 100 W. Center St., Kyle.
