The Buda City Council is expected to vote on an ordinance that would grant a specific-use permit for the construction of a 2,860-square-foot outdoor storage area at 127 Trademark Drive, Buda. The facility will be for Airgas, a gas, welding and safety product supply company that has locations throughout the country.

The planning and zoning commission unanimously voted in favor of approval of the ordinance at a May 24 meeting. This is just one of the various permits recently approved by the Buda City Council for new builds or expansions to existing businesses.

The Airgas facility will also have a 6,500-square-foot office building, which was approved in late 2021, according to agenda documents. However, the outdoor storage area is an addition that triggered the need for the special-use permit.

If approved, Airgas will focus on the expanding medical and industrial communities in South Austin, Buda, Kyle and Marble Falls, according to an Airgas and Austin Civil Engineering presentation. Airgas estimates the new facility will bring about $1.75 million in sales tax revenue to the city.

The council will meet June 7 at 6 p.m. at 405 E. Loop St., Buda.
