Buzzmill, located at 194 S. Guadalupe St., San Marcos, will open the first week of September, owner Jason Sabala said.
The concept combining a restaurant, coffee shop and bar will feature a full food menu, a variety of house-infused liquors, a large beer selection, a variety of vegan items and coffee from Austin-based Barrett’s Coffee. The business will be open 24/7, Sabala said.
“I wanted to create something unique,” Sabala said of the business’s Pacific Northwest aesthetic, which is evident in the planks of lumber that line the walls and the menu’s offerings, which include the Grizzly Espresso and bison burger.
The business also plans to host live music and participate in community events such as the San Marcos Farmer’s Market, he said.
“We’re not trying to get the guy from Austin to come down here,” he said. “We’re trying to serve this community.”
In addition to Buzzmill, Sabala is working to open a small grocery store—to be called Grizzly Grocery—in a neighboring building. The store will offer freshly prepared food, growler fills and other items.
