Officials in Kyle have approved the extension of a grant that helps residents continue to have uninterrupted access to utilities.

The extension came during City Council’s Nov. 5 meeting and applies to people needing assistance with water, wastewater, solid waste and drainage utilities amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Information from the city states the Kyle Cares Grant Program was first passed March 1 and ran through May 31, but the extension will carry the program through Dec. 30.

City information states applicants for the grant assistance must be Kyle residents with an active utility account, be the primary account holder, be in a financial hardship due to the pandemic, and be at or below the federal income thresholds for low income.

Qualifying applicants’ utility bills must fall between March 1 and Dec. 30, and city of Kyle staff recommend visiting www.cityofkyle.com/kylecares for more information on the Kyle Cares Grant Program.
