Hays County reports 85 new coronavirus cases, 1 additional death July 8

The Hays County Local Health Department confirmed 85 additional coronavirus cases July 8, bringing the total to 3,328.

The county also reported one additional death, a man from Mountain City in his 70s. Hays County now has 11 coronavirus fatalities.


The numbers also show that 61 tests are pending results, and 20 people are currently hospitalized. Of the 3,328 lab-confirmed coronavirus cases, 2,721 are considered active.

As school district officials across the U.S. prepare for the start of the 2020-21 school year, 179,990 new COVID-19 cases were reported in children nationwide between July 9 and Aug. 6—an increase of 90%, according to a report compiled by The American Academy of Pediatrics and the Children's Hospital Association.
