The latest Census data shows that 111 of the 254 counties in Texas gained in population since the last count in 2010. The greatest growth was concentrated among the state's urban areas of Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin, Houston and San Antonio, data showed.
In total, Texas added nearly four million people between 2010 and 2020. That amounts to a nearly 16% growth, according to the data.
Hays County tops the list with 53% growth between the two census counts. That county south of Austin went from 157,107 residents to 241,067 residents in the latest census.
