The Hays County Commissioners Court struck an agreement with Texas State University at a June 30 meeting to quarantine first responders who have had potential exposure to the coronavirus at Bobcat Village.
The county has arranged for all first responders within municipalities, emergency services districts and county governments to quarantine at Bobcat Village building No. 6, according to county documents.
Under the agreement, 30 apartment units will be reserved for first responders. Of those units, 18 will have one bedroom, and the remaining will have two. The bedrooms will be fully furnished and will come with appliances.
The county will pay the university $35 per day for every room in use until July 31. The cost of the housing agreement is not to exceed $37,000.
Funding for the lodging of first responders will come through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act.
