The Texas Division of Emergency Management announced June 10 that it will be offering free COVID-19 testing in San Marcos and other cities in Hays County as part of Gov. Greg Abbott’s new initiative to test underserved communities.



San Marcos will have two free mobile testing locations available. One will be offered June 14 at Bonham Pre-K School, 1225 TX-123, San Marcos, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. The second mobile testing site will be offered June 20 at Bowie Elementry School, 4020 Monterrey Oak, San Marcos, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m, according to a press release from the county.



Tests will be administered by the Texas National Guard, and appointments will not be required. Results are expected to be available 10-25 days after getting tested.



Additional locations offering free COVID-19 testing in Hays County will be available on the following dates:




  • From 4 p.m.-8 p.m. June 17 at Simon Middle School, 3839 E. FM 150, Kyle

  • From 4 p.m.-8 p.m. June 18 at Uhland Elementry School, 2331 High Road, Uhland

  • From 4 p.m.-8 p.m. June 19 at McCormick Middle School, 5700 Dacy Lane, Buda
