Texas State University announced May 21 that university-owned Sewell Park will remain closed until July 6 citing coronavirus concerns.
The tentative reopening date of Sewell Park aligns with the university's plans to resume in-person instruction for the Summer II session, according to a release from the university.
The University Camp, Student Recreation Center and all fields will also remain closed through July 6. Once all facilities reopen, there will be social distancing measures in place.
For now, to avoid confusion with the city’s decision to reopen selected river and trail parks starting May 22, the university will be posting signage at Sewell Park to remind the public that the park remains closed.
