A second death related to the coronavirus was confirmed May 8 by the Hays County Local Health Department.

The individual who passed away May 7 had been hospitalized for about two weeks. The individual was a resident of Wimberley in their 90s, according to public health officials. No additional information was released about the individual.

“We have a second fatality due to complications with COVID-19,” Hays County Epidemiologist Eric Schneider said in a release.

Hays County also reported that 2,091 coronavirus tests had been conducted, and 73 COVID-19 cases were still active as of Friday morning.

Public health officials will release an updated report of COVID-19 cases this afternoon.
