Pie in the Sky Hot Air Balloon Festival


The third annual festival put on by the city of Kyle features more than 25 hot air balloons this year and also includes performances by the Austin End of the Line Kite Team, fireworks, kite-making workshops and the “gathering of the Kyles” as well as pie-centric events, such as pie-baking and pie-eating competitions. Start the Schoolhouse Rocks Fall Series


Sponsored by For the Love of Go, a Kyle-based nonprofit dedicated to providing wellness opportunities for local families, the Schoolhouse Rocks Fall Series challenges participants to complete a set of three races. The first event is the 2019 Hornet Races on Sept. 14, which is followed by the Race for the Stars on Sept. 28 and the Bulldog Dash on Nov. 2. Participants must complete all three to win the Schoolhouse Rocks medal. Texas State University hosts Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, the pediatrician who took notice of and studied a new water source in Flint, Michigan, that was leaching lead into the water and then led efforts to change.
