In addition to Hays and San Marcos CISDs canceling classes and closing offices, Texas State University announced Feb. 2 classes both in person and virtual will be canceled Feb. 3-4 at San Marcos and Round Rock campuses.

Some dining options will be available for San Marcos campus students who have meal plans. However, all other operations such as the university shuttle service will be suspended, according to a press release.

The cities of San Marcos and Kyle have announced citywide closures of facilities and nonessential functions Feb.3-4.

The city of Buda and Hays County announced the closure of offices and facilities Feb. 3 with the exception of essential personnel.

Hays County road crews are on standby "to help mitigate icy conditions on county roads," according to a statement from the county.


A winter storm warning has been issued by the National Weather Service through 9 p.m. Feb. 3. with gusts of wind as high as 30 mph as well as freezing rain and sleet.

Some city entities will re-evaluate the inclement weather conditions Feb. 4. Community Impact Newspaper will provide updates related to the winter storm as updates become available.
