San Marcos City Council once again has a full dais, as Mark Rockeymoore and Joca Marquez were sworn in as the Place 4 and 5 Council members on Dec. 19 following the 2018 runoff election.

Rockeymoore and Marquez ran on similar platforms—both advocate a no-kill animal shelter, protecting neighborhoods, focusing on transparency and ethics, representing marginalized communities and protecting the environment.

The election of Marquez as the fourth woman on the council established the first-ever San Marcos City Council comprised mostly of women.
