Texas State University will offer free parking at the Matthews Street Parking Garage from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day for those who vote in the LBJ Student Center.

Voters must show the parking attendant their voting receipt to have the parking fee waived.

Only voters in Precinct 334, which includes the Texas State campus, will be able to vote at the LBJ Student Center. However, during early voting—which ends Friday—registered Hays County residents may vote at any polling location in the county.

Hays County Commissioners voted to change the Precinct 334 voting location from Crockett Elementary to Texas State University in an emergency meeting Oct. 23.

During the meeting, commissioners also extended early voting at Texas State and added early voting times at Live Oak Health Center and the Belterra Welcome Center on Nov.1-2. The changes came after the Texas Civil Rights Project threatened to file a lawsuit against the county unless it agreed to extend early voting on campus for students after experiencing unprecedented turnout in the first three days of early voting.
