UDPATE: Remy Fallon takes Buda City Council Place 5 seat

The final vote counts for Buda City Council were reported at 9:36 p.m., and Remy Fallon won the Place 5 seat. Fallon took 63.06 percent of votes, or 466 votes.

"I'm excited to serve Buda," Fallon said. "I've lived here my whole life, so this is kind of the icing on the cake for me."

Fallon said traffic and public safety are two of her priorities as she joins the council as the youngest member, its only female and only Hispanic member.

"I'm really looking forward to getting the 2014 bond pushed through and finished up so the traffic can finally alleviate. One of my big things was public safety, and I'm hoping we can get a couple of police officers added."

Fallon works for Helen's Casa Alde in Buda, the restaurant her grandmother started in 1980. Fallon's grandmother died June 11.

"With her death I felt that I should do something to honor her in some way," Fallon said.

Fallon's opponent, Clark Beach, took 36.94 percent of votes, or 273 votes.

"Remy has won, and I know she will be a great city council member," he said.

Original post: Shortly after the polls closed at 7 p.m., early voting totals showed Buda City Council Place 5 candidate Remy Fallon leading in the race for the council seat.

Fallon received 59.17 percent of the vote, or 242 votes, as of 7:08 p.m. Opponent Clark Beach received 40.83 percent of the vote, or 167 votes.

Following the release of the early and absentee voting count, Fallon said, "I'm still a little nervous because it still could go either way. So far it looks good, and either way, I think with Clark and I in it, either one of us will do great."

Voting totals are unofficial until canvassed.
