H-E-B issues recall for ground chuck purchased at Buda store
The grocery chain issued a precautionary recall for any 80/20 ground chuck on styrofoam trays that was purchased July 23 at 4:30 p.m. or later from its location at15300 I-35, Buda. In a news release issued Monday morning, the company said that metal from a mesh glove is possibly in the meat.
San Marcos City Council meets twice for city’s fiscal year 2017-18 budget

The Hays County Commissioners Court meets Tuesday morning
Commissioners will discuss a variety of topics, including approval of engineering services related to planned road projects such as the FM 2001 realignment in Buda and improvements on FM 967. The meeting takes place at 9 a.m. at the Hays County Courthouse, 111 E. San Antonio St., San Marcos. The agenda can be viewed here.
Buda Planning and Zoning Commission meets Tuesday
P&Z will meet to discuss the city’s annexation plans and hold a workshop on land-use assumptions, water and wastewater capital improvement projects, and impact fees. The commission meets 7 p.m. at City Hall, 121 S. Main St. The agenda can be viewed here.
Kyle Planning and Zoning Commission meets Tuesday
Among the items to be discussed by Kyle P&Z is the proposed residential style guide, which could be used to direct developers and homebuilders in how to style the residences they build. The aim of the guide, according to a staff memo, is to break up some of monotony and uniformity of the city’s existing developments.
“Kyle is falling into a building pattern resulting in a bedroom community, removed and detached from the emergent ‘Kyle’ brand, completely dependent on the automobile, without any particular identity or sense of place,” the guide states. The meeting takes place at City Hall, 100 W. Center St., at 6:30 p.m. The agenda can be viewed here.
Public comment on development of Hays County’s draft Hazard Mitigation Plan update open through July 26
The plan details potential hazards facing the county, residents and property. These hazards include flooding, dam failure, tornados, drought and extreme heat.
The plan is required by the Federal Emergency Management Administration in order to remain eligible for federal disaster grants. The county’s plan was last updated in 2011. That plan can be viewed here, and a survey related to the new plan can be taken here.
