The city of San Marcos has rebuilt its website, and it wants to test the new product on city residents.

The new site will feature a responsive design that allows for simpler navigation for users accessing the site through a mobile phone or tablet. The new site will also provide more organized information to users about city departments.

"We are living in a mobile age,” said Kristi Wyatt, director of communications and intergovernmental relations, in a news release. “People pay bills online, schedule appointments and connect with businesses, all from their mobile phones or tablets. The city's communication office is striving to create a site that helps citizens connect just as easily with city departments, all with just a few clicks of a mouse, or swipes of the finger.”

The new website launches June 22, but the city’s communications department will host a pre-launch preview and web chat at 12:30 p.m. June 21 on the city’s Facebook page.

The preview will show improvements on the site, explain the website’s features and show users how to connect with the city online.

The new website will also feature a poll as a way to gather residents’ feedback, according to the city news release.

“The new site is still a work in progress, and it always will be,” Wyatt said. “We have worked to review all of pages, but we will continue to update the website daily to reflect the most current and relevant information, but we are also looking forward to hearing feedback from residents, and we welcome suggestions and ideas.”
