The city of San Marcos hosts a bond open house Monday from 6-8 p.m.


The city plans to host three open house events to provide information and accept feedback on the city’s two bond proposals that are aimed at addressing public safety facilities and improvements at the city library. The first open house will be held Monday at the San Marcos Activity Center Room 3, 501 E. Hopkins St., San Marcos. The second open house will take place April 12 at Cuauhtemoc Hall, 1100 Patton St., San Marcos, from 6-8 p.m.; and the final open house will take place May 1 at the KAD Korner Store at CM Allen Homes, 820 Sturgeon St., San Marcos, from 6-8 p.m. More information on the bond initiatives is available here.

The San Marcos City Council meets Tuesday at 5 p.m.


On the meeting agenda are items related to proposed changes to city parks rules as well as a discussion of alcohol sales permits and the possible creation of a subcommittee to examine the city’s rules for issuing the permits. Kyle City Council meets Tuesday at 7 p.m.


The council will consider a de-annexation plan and development agreement with Blanco River Ranch, an 858.7-acre property that is planned for residential development. Initial concept plans call for 2,100 single-family lots and garden homes. The property is located within the city limits, but as part of Tuesday night’s discussion, the city may de-annex the property. The agenda can be seen here.

Buda City Council meets Tuesday at 6 p.m.


The council will meet to discuss an annexation strategy, 2014 bond proposition projects and the creation of a flood control district for Hays and Travis counties related to Onion Creek. The agenda can be seen here.

CAMPO hosts an open house in Dripping Springs on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m.


The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, which is responsible for coordinating transportation projects in Central Texas, hosts an open house Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Dripping Springs Park Ranch and Event Center, 1042 Event Center Drive, Dripping Springs. The open house is aimed at answering questions and receiving feedback on proposed amendments to the organization's four-year Transportation Improvement Program.

The county clerk’s offices will be closed Wednesday from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.


The offices will close Wednesday for training, which starts at 8 a.m.; the offices will reopen at 1 p.m. The Kyle office is located at the Precinct 2 building, 5458 FM 2770, and the San Marcos office is located at the Government Center, 712 Stagecoach Trail. The offices will open at 1 p.m. on Wednesday and maintain regular business hours. The Kyle location will stay open until 4:30 p.m., and the San Marcos location is open until 6 p.m. on Wednesdays.

The School Fuel Benefit Run is Saturday at 10 a.m.


Registration for the event begins at 8 a.m. on race day, but entrants can also register beforehand here. School Fuel is a nonprofit organization providing meals to San Marcos CISD students. More than 70 percent of the children in the district are eligible for free or reduced-price meals based on their household income.
