With all precincts reporting, Gary Cutler has won re-election in the Hays County sheriff race. Cutler received 39,399, or 56.52 percent of votes, and Democratic opponent Rodrigo Amaya received 30,309 votes, or 43.48 percent, according to unofficial results.

With 46 out of 49 precincts reporting, Gary Cutler is set for re-election in the Hays County sheriff race. Cutler received 38,312, or 56.64 percent of votes, and Democratic opponent Rodrigo Amaya received 29,324 votes, or 43.36 percent, according to unofficial results.

Reached by phone Tuesday evening, Rodrigo Amaya, who trailed in early voting, said he was optimistic about his chances.
“We're just listening and looking at them and waiting for the update,” Amaya said. “It’s not over, sir. It'll all be over when it’s over, sir.”
Sheriff Gary Cutler could not be reached for comment.

Gary Cutler leads opponent Rodrigo Amaya in the race for Hays County sheriff, as early voting results show the Republican incumbent earned 2,452 tallies, or 56.35 percent, compared to his opponent's 1,899 votes, or 43.65 percent.
All results are unofficial until canvassed.

Hays County Sheriff Gary Cutler is vying for re-election as he faces Democrat Rodrigo Amaya in today's general election.
Cutler, a Driftwood resident, began serving as sheriff in 2010. Amaya is a former Texas Department of Public Safety state trooper and Austin Police Department officer.
The two took to Facebook to urge their respective supporters to vote.
