Tuesday is the last day to register to vote.


Oct. 11 is the last day to register to vote in the Nov. 8 election. To register, visit the Hays County Elections Office website. Voters who have never registered or moved to Hays County from another county where they were previously registered must register to vote in Hays County in order to cast ballots in the county’s elections.

Voters who are registered in Hays County but have recently moved must complete a change of address form, which can be completed online.

Hays County Commissioners Court placed two propositions on the ballot totaling $237.8 million that would address the county’s law-enforcement facilities and transportation projects throughout the county if approved by voters.

Kyle Planning and Zoning meets Tuesday.


The Kyle Planning and Zoning Commission will consider approval of preliminary plans to develop the second phase of Plum Creek on 389.1 acres. The proposal includes 1,404 single-family homes, a school and 19 parks, according to agenda documents.

The commission will also consider approval of a request to rezone about 5 acres at 245 Lehman Road from agriculture use to retail use. About two-thirds of the property is located within the 100-year flood plain—the assumed water level of a storm that has a 1 percent chance of occurring in a given year—according to agenda documents.

The San Marcos Council of Neighborhood Associations hosts a candidate debate Thursday.


The San Marcos City Council candidates will participate in a debate hosted by the San Marcos Council of Neighborhood Associations on Thursday. The event will be held at 7 p.m. at the San Marcos Recreation Center at City Park, 170 Charles Austin Drive, San Marcos.

The former big-box store was redeveloped by EVO Entertainment Group, which has a similar business concept, EVO, in Kyle.

The city of Kyle celebrates its founding Saturday with a parade downtown at 10 a.m. Kyle Market Days will also be held downtown from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Kyle Market Days features vendors selling a variety of goods, including produce and art.

The city of Buda is accepting applications for its new sustainability commission.


The city of Buda is seeking applicants for a new commission that will advise City Council on issues related to sustainability, including environmental stewardship, social awareness and fiscal responsibility.

The application period is now open. Applications can be picked up at Buda City Hall, 121 S. Main St., Buda, Mon.-Thu. from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Fri. 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Applications can also be downloaded and mailed to the city secretary, P.O. Box 1380, Buda, TX, 78610.
