Terms and compensation The mayor and council members receive $75 and $50 per meeting, respectively. Each member serves three-year terms.

Big decisions made in 2015
Secured water supply The city finalized an agreement with the cities of Kyle and San Marcos to purchase water that has been allocated to but is not being used by those cities.
Community of the Year award The city of Buda received the American Planners’ Association’s Community of the Year award for 2015.
Hands-free ordinance In July the city passed a hands-free ordinance. Motorists and cyclists in the city face a fine of up to $500 if they manually use electronic devices while driving.
Top issues for 2016
Implementing bond projects Council aims to begin projects included in a voter-approved $55 million bond.
Code rewrite Council will consider adopting a revision of its unified development code, the set of rules for developing land in the city, early this year.
Transportation Buda will consider joining the Lone Star Rail District, adopting a transportation plan for city bus services and whether to continue a city-operated van service.
