The city of Kyle officially opened its new Mobile Library with a ribbon-cutting May 3, according to the city. The project was funded by the Friends of the Kyle Public Library.

Production on the library began in September 2024 and was completed in March 2025.

The overview

The Mobile Library is focused on bringing books to high-impact locations such as apartment complexes, schools, senior centers and local events. The rotating collection includes titles for youth, teens and adults, according to Kyle Library Director Leslie Scott.

Upcoming stops include:
  • Balcones Trails Apartments: June 4
  • Jams on the Green: June 5
  • Market Days: June 14 and July 12
  • Storytime at the Park: June 28

“The new Mobile Library will be an invaluable addition to the Library’s community outreach efforts,” Kyle Library Director Leslie Scott said. “The goal is to continue expanding our potential reach and make the Library’s resources accessible to residents of Kyle.”

Digging deeper

Scott said the library is partnering with community organizations, HOAs, schools, the local VFW and other city departments. The long-term goal is to establish a regular service route throughout the city, she said.

While the Mobile Library is currently operating at select events, staff are working to develop a consistent schedule based on community feedback and attendance patterns.

More details

The library is stocked with hundreds of curated items, ranging from board books for toddlers to popular fiction and nonfiction for adults. Scott said the collection reflects the diverse needs and interests of the community and will continue to expand as the service grows.
