School Fuel, a volunteer-based nonprofit providing weekend meals to eligible San Marcos CISD students, moved its operations to a new permanent location on Feb. 6.

The details

School Fuel relocated from its temporary location in Mendez Elementary School at 1805 Peter Garza Drive, San Marcos, to 1331 Hwy. 123, San Marcos.

The new location is inside SMCISD’s new administration building near Owen Goodnight Middle School. The school board approved the construction of the $7 million building, which also houses district administration offices, in 2023. School Fuel’s new location provides more space for packing meals.

About the program

School Fuel was created in 2013 as a pilot program to provide weekend sack lunches to SMCISD students. The organization now serves 1,300 students.
