A new restaurant called Whiskey Ridge will be opening at 8750 W. RR 150, Bldg. 300, in Driftwood this November.

The new culinary concept is locally owned by restaurateurs Matt Dodson, Kathy Dodson, Doug Young and Katie Young.

On the menu

Kathy Dodson said Whiskey Ridge is a "love letter to Texas cuisine and spirits."

The restaurant will serve fresh Gulf Coast seafood and locally sourced meats. Whiskey Ridge will also offer an extensive, curated selection of whiskey and Texas distilled spirits.

"We also have an innovative cocktail program, which is [going to] use hill country-inspired ingredients like wildflowers and bee pollen," Dodson told Community Impact.

Meet the chef

Executive Chef Steve Warner is born and raised in Central Texas and has worked in other local establishments like ATX Cocina and Bulevar. The Whiskey Ridge menu is about celebrating everything he loves about Texas cooking “with the freedom to push boundaries,” Warner said in a news release.

“We’re taking dishes that feel like home—like our chicken fried steak, which we’re elevating with aged ribeye—and giving them life through classic technique,” Warner said. “I’m especially proud of our partnerships with folks like R-C Ranch, and our Gulf Coast fishing families. Having that direct line to exceptional Texas beef and fresh-caught seafood lets us do something special here.”

What else?

Whiskey Ridge will also have two private event spaces—The Ranger Room and a covered porch area—for celebrations and corporate events. The Ranger Room will be able to accommodate up to 40 guests for seated dinners and the covered porch will be able to accommodate up to 70 guests for cocktail-style gatherings.
