Local live music lovers soon won’t have to travel too far to a country music festival when Railcar Revival arrives in Buda for the first time this fall.

In partnership with the City of Buda and the Buda Economic Development Corporation, event production agency HighBridge Events will present Railcar Revival, a music festival showcasing a blend of Texas country, rock and Americana music on Nov. 9 in downtown Buda.

The inspiration

Bethany and Chad Kocian own and operate HighBridge Events. The Austin-based company provides services like brand awareness, operational planning and entertainment acquisition for large-scale events like South by Southwest.

Railcar Revival is their venture into presenting a festival of their own, something they have always wanted to do.

“Buda is growing,” Bethany Kocian said. “We felt like things were popping up kind of north and in different areas but nothing south of Austin, and [Buda is] quite close for Austin and Kyle ... We're hoping to even reach the San Marcos population.”

The name Railcar Revival is a nod to Buda’s history as a railroad depot in the 1880s. Kocian said they also hope the festival, taking place at Buda Amphitheater & City Park, highlights Buda as it stands today.

The details

Railcar Revival’s debut lineup features six rock, red dirt and Texas country artists and bands including headliner Treaty Oak Revival. The stage will also have guest DJ Jonathan Terrell.

The festival grounds will have vendors offering barbecue and other food, market booths selling cowboy hats and clothing, a bar with televisions broadcasting college football games, a dance floor and a VIP section with air-conditioned restrooms, a private bar and more.

“It's a festival, not just a concert. That's kind of the way we're looking at it,” Bethany Kocian said. “There’ll be a lot more to go do and see than just sitting there watching a concert.”

Kocian said she hopes Buda embraces the festival and that the goal is to make Railcar Revival an annual multistage event the community can look forward to.
