The restaurant is opening in the building that was previously Golden Chick.
It's owned by Mo Alfawagreh, who also owns Mighty Mo's in Austin and San Antonio. Mile High Mo's is part of a rebrand, Alfawagreh said, and will offer the same menu as Mighty Mo's, which includes smash burgers, Philly cheesesteaks and poutine, or Canadian loaded fries.
Alfawagreh said he is looking forward to getting to know San Marcos.
"I think we're going to do whatever it takes to interact with the city as humanly possible," Alfawagreh said. "I'm a firm believer in whether it comes to donating, whether [it] comes to sponsoring, ... we want to be able to connect with as many community members as possible."
He said he also wants to be a late-night spot for students. Mighty Mo's stays open until 4 a.m. during the week and 6 a.m. on the weekends. Once it opens, Alfawagreh said he'd like to be open until midnight to test the market.
The April soft opening of Mile High Mo's will introduce a basic menu. A grand opening with a bigger menu is slated for June 1.
