Solid Gold, a woman-owned vintage shop, announced Jan. 12 via social media it will be closing in the coming weeks as the landlord has sold the building. The business recently celebrated its second anniversary in October.

"Our building has sold. And sadly, we will not be able to afford the rent increase. So we will be closing," the post read.

Solid Gold owner Zimi Chappell told Community Impact business has slowed over recent months leading to not being able to afford the increased rent with the new landlord.
This comes on the heels of the abrupt closure of Stonewall Warehouse, the lone LGBTQ bar and club in San Marcos. Stonewall Warehouse closed Jan. 1 after the owner sold the business.
Solid Gold, located at 164 S. Guadalupe St., San Marcos, sells a variety of curated vintage, mid-century and eclectic items, including furniture, clothing, jewelry and other home decor items; the post read that there will be a sale in the coming weeks prior to the business closure.

The owner of the building at 164 S. Guadalupe St. could not be reached for comment.
