At a meeting April 19, the Buda City Council approved a special-use permit for the construction of a Dutch Bros coffee shop at 2090 Main St., Buda. The Buda Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously recommended approval of the permit at its April 12 meeting.

Dutch Bros was founded in 1992 in Oregon and has expanded with stores in more than 10 states. The shop offers coffee, tea and other beverages as well as some pastries and snacks.

The new Dutch Bros location will be about 950 square feet with a drive-thru and walk-up window. There will be no indoor seating area for customers.

Neighboring property owners were notified of the development plans, and no one submitted a letter of concern, Planning Director Melissa McCollum said.

The new store is expected to bring in 40 or more jobs, according to a presentation from real estate development firm Cole Valley Partners, and construction is slated to begin this summer.
