Located not far from downtown Kyle, Pups and Mutts Boarding, Day Care and Grooming opened for business in August 2017 to care for dogs and educate their owners. Justine Gooding, Pups and Mutts owner and a Kyle resident, said she wanted her business to feel more like a pet resort than just a regular kennel. “After behavioral evaluations to make sure we’re the right fit, dogs are cared for and looked after as if they were our own,” Gooding said. “Plus, we train them and educate their owners in order to build confidence and social skills.” Dogs that are vaccinated and spayed or neutered can enjoy a safe, fun and loving place while their owners are away for vacation, travel or work, according to Gooding. Day care allows dogs of all ages to interact with other dogs, with little unnecessary human interference. Rather than being confined to kennels for most of the day, social dogs boarding at Pups and Mutts can run and play either in an indoor or outdoor area, which are carefully monitored. “When I would board my dogs, I always felt guilty about leaving them,” Gooding said. “This facility aims to eliminate the guilt families can get when they to leave their dogs for a stay. Our experienced staff works to ensure our ‘quality over quantity’ policy.” The all-inclusive Pups and Mutts’ boarding service is offered year-round, while day care and appointment-based grooming services are offered during regular business hours. For owners who like to watch their pets while they are away, there is a live webcam of the play area. With preferably no more than 30 dogs kept at a time, Pups and Mutts focuses more on the good of the group rather than just one dog in particular. Gooding, who remembers the name of each dog, takes pride in her inclusive and growing business. “It’s a doggie’s home away from home,” she said.
