Susan and Omar Aldmour plan to open The Pita Shop, 1904 RR 12, San Marcos, later this year. The Mediterranean restaurant will serve pitas, soups, salads and small desserts, Susan said.
The couple formerly worked at Cedars Mediterranean Cafe, 220 N. Edward Gary St., San Marcos. The restaurant closed in 2014 to make way for a mixed-use development.
“We worked a couple of other jobs since then and didn’t like it,” Susan said. “I think this is what we like to do, and this is what we’re good at, working in the food industry and making food for people to enjoy.”
The restaurant’s initial hours will be Tue.-Thu. 11 a.m.-9 p.m., Fri.-Sat. 11 a.m.-10 p.m., and Sun. 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
