Though no Round Rock ISD campuses or facilities suffered extensive damage due to tornado activity March 21, one school remains closed March 22.

RRISD Acting Superintendent Daniel Presley in a statement said an extended power outage caused the temporary closure at Callison Elementary School, located at 1750 Thompson Trail, Round Rock.

Beyond the closure, Presley said several families in the area have been affected by Monday's storm, and the district's counseling department and social workers are curating resources to help those in need.

Daniels said those wanting to help affected residents may access the district's Storm Disaster Relief Document, or visit the RRISD Partners in Education Foundation's mobile donation website.

Additionally, the RRISD department of behavioral health services and counseling services will host a session at 6 p.m. March 22 at Redbud Elementary School, 1500 Ty Cobb Place, Round Rock, for parents and guardians on how to talk to children after a traumatic event.

Red Bud Elementary is also one of two sites in Round Rock where makeshift shelters have been put in place to help those affected by the tornado.

"I am proud to be part of the Round Rock community and the Round Rock ISD family," Presley said in the statement. "Events like this bring out the best in us as we rally together to support and protect each other."
