The overview
The project, construction for which began in August 2024, includes widening the road from four lanes to six with new medians, pedestrian improvements, bicycle improvements, and right and left turns at A.W. Grimes Boulevard and Double Creek Drive.
Construction was originally expected to be completed in the fall of 2026. Now, the city plans to complete the final paving on the roughly $26-million road project in February.

The project is part of ongoing road improvements taking place throughout the city in an effort to increase capacity and connectivity.
Round Rock City Council recently approved a $20.4-million contract to begin construction on Gattis School Road Segment 6. This project, which runs from Via Sonoma Trail to Red Bud Lane, is expected to begin in early 2026.
